• Onto a new topic now which is that Salta and Mendoza are the most renowned wine regions in Argentina. Why is it that there are not more wineries making anything reasonable or decent from Catamarca. That is right in the middle of wine country and nobody does anything there. When I think about going to taste wine, aka, going to an awesome wine tasting in Buenos Aires, what I think about is mountains and fresh air and vines. Grape vines all over the place. What else is all over the place?

Plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is actually a vacation item in Buenos Aires. There are plastic surgery vacations here. Why? Well let’s think about it. So a person who is in the USA wants to get plastic surgery. Let’s just say they want a nose job because one night they went out and their husband drank and entire bottle of Luigi Bosca Reserve Malbec and insulted her nose. So she wants to get it done.

Well if she does it in the USA it will cost her at least a few thousand dollars. And if she does it in Argentina it will cost maybe 10% of that. And she gets a vacation! And nobody sees her with her bandages on who she cares about! This is a win all the way around! Except for the doctor in the USA who is out of work. I wonder how many doctors in Argentina actually drive taxis. Taxi driving in Argentina is just amazing to me. How much can those guys possibly make? They say that they earn rather well actually.

Speaking of earning well I am amazed by the number of sales people who neglect to do their follow ups. Following up is such a major key to success in any endeavor. Following up and presence and all sorts of time related repetitive tasks like that really add up. Adding things up is math and math is really useful. I wish that more people understood the meaning of numbers and data.

  • When people think of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, they think of green rivers and green beer flowing through places like Chicago and New Yrok, but hardly does anyone think of wine. That’s for good reason because beer consumption and brewing in general have a long and storied history on the Irish Isle, but wine making and viticulture don’t share that same type of history in Ireland or any other part of the United Kingdom. For a wine gift though, especially if you have a family member of friend who is especially proud of their Irish heritage, finding an Irish wine can be a thoughtful and amazing gift. Although there isn’t currently any large scale commercial wineries in Ireland, there are some thoughtful and interesting vintners and even bars making locally grown wine for customers on an extremely small scale. These wines will need to be purchased in person and hand carried home, but what could be a better gift?
